Monday, August 28, 2006 ::: TIME FLIES, BUT ROAD IS LONG 8am to 8pm is bad enough - somehow it's quite unbelievable we managed to wait for 2 hours for that evening round to happen, and that evening round actually took another 2 hours to finish. And that's not even anything like the life for an H.O., yet. ARGH. I have something good for you - check out Brandi Carlile's website, and download 'Fall Apart Again' (it's up free for grabs folks!) How do I know about her? Actually the very lovely Mandy Moore introduced her to me. Mandy's album is going to be a long wait. She hasn't even started recording it yet - it's still in pre-production. While her movie 'License to Wed' is done I believe, and I just can't wait. American Dreamz is already out - I might get the DVD one day. And Mandy is actually taking good care of her myspace, pity she hasn't got any new tunes to upload lately but her diary entries are good reads. Go check it out yourself. Did I tell you I want to make some music? I want to play the piano, compose a kick ass tune, learn to play some drums, program the beats all by myself, then get some guys to lend me an awesome guitar riff for the chorus or the middle eight, and I'll find someone else to do the vocals too, then I'll get a hit song. And maybe I'll be happy. Maybe I have what it takes. Maybe I don't. Maybe I can be a genius in producing kick ass songs. Maybe I can be a genius while nobody sees the genius in me. But maybe I can still produce some kick ass songs. A not-so-complicated-tune like 'Fall Apart Again' just inspires me to write music. I feel awful saying stuff like that. 'Inspiration' is just the right word that sounds so wrong here. Maybe I can write some lyrics too. I've done that on the piano. A tune + some lyrics. Writing stuff that can't be more egocentric. But those were quite good. But I've got all the good tunes forgotten. Maybe that's how gems are lost. Isn't it scary that a good idea can get lost just like that? Like you carve something quite nice in the sand and a wave just wipes it all away? Fall Apart Again is more than a brilliant song. I mean, having an album out, like Brandi Carlile's, although not many people might know it/buy it - I'd be very happy and proud. But yea, you'll tell me I have no idea what it takes.
